MINUTES – First Meeting, March 8, 2000

Purpose:These minutes are intended to reflect highlights of the meeting. They are not a
comprehensive record. The intent is to inform people who were unable to attend as to the
essential elements of the meeting. Should any participant have corrections or
clarifications, please forward them to Jon Kumin or Vicki Otte. The agenda is in
standard print – minutes have been added in italics.

Goals for this meeting:

a) Get organized internally
b) Agree on process and goals
c) Plan next 8 weeks

1.Introductions / sign-in:Eleven were present including Vicki Otte and Jon
Kumin, co-chairs, Denali Daniels, staff and the following members:

2.Review Meeting Times / Location:
For the moment the 7 am Wed. plan was confirmed. (NOTE – this has since been
changed to Friday at 7 am, same location).

3.Coming Events:a) Upcoming meetings (ex. with Mayors on March 21?)
b) Rural visits
c) Others?
These were briefly discussed. Plans not firm yet.

Email addresses have been exchanged. Information (such as these minutes) will be
posted on the CWN website as available.

5. Proposed Process:a) Information gathering – written (past studies) and verbal
(expert presentations)
b) Debate and consensus development
c) Report drafting
General agreement on this process. See more detail under Item 8 below.
