On March 31st, Professor Ralph Townsend, Director of UAA’s Institute of Social and Economic Research (ISER), presented an economist’s perspective of key principles that should be considered in developing tax policy. As the Legislature continues to struggle to address the state’s revenue and spending challenges, it is discussing how individual taxation could be part of the solution. The purpose of Friday’s meeting was to inform our members and discuss various considerations in tax policy-making. We plan to continue this discussion with other guest speakers in the weeks to come.
